Ernest Concepcion

Ernest Concepcion is a New York Brooklyn based artist. Born in Manila, Philippines, Concepcion received his BFA in Studio Art at University of the Philippines. Since his move to the US in 2002, he participated in various artists residency programs. His works have been exhibited at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Asian American Arts Centre, The Contemporary Museum in Hawaii, The Queens Museum of NY, and numerous galleries in the Philippines among others. 

Concepcion’s first series, The Line Wars, is a series of black and white drawings depicting opposing forces engaged in ridiculous battle based on the entertainments of childhood and adolescence.  Since then, his works employ varied materials and divergent techniques, such as pencil vs. sharpie, oil and enamel, comics and photo collages. Concepcion’s experimental approaches on works reflect his thoughts on cultural influence.

Ling Pui Sze

Based in Hong Kong since 1997. In 2012, she graduated in fine arts (BFA) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, receiving the Wucius Wong Creative Ink Painting Award at graduation. Her solo exhibitions include It all begins in the Sea (Gallery Exit, Hong Kong, 2014) and Metamorphosis (Ch’ien Mu Library, New Asia College, CUHK, Hong Kong, 2012). Joint exhibitions include CC & SE (China Art Projects, Hong Kong, 2014) and disturbances(Gallery Exit, Hong Kong, 2013).

Ling mainly focuses on collage of mix media. Inspired by the evolution of cells, her works engage the process of deconstructing and recomposing, like replicating the evolution of life. Ling enlarges pictures of various changing forms of splitting and combining. Most of her works are over one meter, and some are even longer than two meters. Her style seems like freely expressed ink painting with rich details inside.
