Ernest Concepcion

Based in Hong Kong since 1997. In 2012, she graduated in fine arts (BFA) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, receiving the Wucius Wong Creative Ink Painting Award at graduation. Her solo exhibitions include It all begins in the Sea (Gallery Exit, Hong Kong, 2014) and Metamorphosis (Ch’ien Mu Library, New Asia College, CUHK, Hong Kong, 2012). Joint exhibitions include CC & SE (China Art Projects, Hong Kong, 2014) and disturbances(Gallery Exit, Hong Kong, 2013).

Ling mainly focuses on collage of mix media. Inspired by the evolution of cells, her works engage the process of deconstructing and recomposing, like replicating the evolution of life. Ling enlarges pictures of various changing forms of splitting and combining. Most of her works are over one meter, and some are even longer than two meters. Her style seems like freely expressed ink painting with rich details inside.
